RIP "White Kirby"
Late 2019 - January 5th 2023
The first custom Kirby plushie I've ever made. I wanted to make Kirby, but I didn't have the right pink so I used some random white with the excuse of "Kirby used to be white on the cover of Kirby's Dream Land anyway!". After I made another Kirby, this one sort of became their own character. I named them "Biały Stolec", which means white turd. Why a turd? I will explain once I get to Kirby. I didn't take that many pictures of it because I wasn't proud of it at first, so I have to use this picture of them riding my dog Perła. I've warmed up to it quite a lot after making more plushies though, which is a shame because after over 3 years of having it, my dog got to it. I knocked it off a shelf on accident, forgot about it and my dog swooped in to completely ruin it. I could not salvage it anymore, so I had to arrange a pretend funeral and bury it in a paper bag...
Meta Knight - June 2020
Why does this plush look so good compared to the last one? Because I didn't actually make it. I only designed it, then asked my mom to make it for me. I wasn't good enough at sewing yet to make a plushie this complicated.
Here is the original design:
His nickname is "Posatć", because I once misspelled the Polish word for character (postać) and found it really funny. Now everyone I know calls him that around me, because that's the name I introduced him by. By the way, this dude is basically like a family member to me and my actual family. Once I wake up, I wave his little hand to everyone instead of saying hello. I like to hug him while I sleep too. He also eats breakfast with me, watches over us from a shelf while we eat dinner... Sometimes I even take him outside! Not that often though since he's pretty big. As you saw from the images above, he has both the cape and the wings, which you can switch between. The wings were supposed to be "poseable", but that failed horribly. At least the armature reinforced the wings nicely... I will make some new ones for him that ARE actually poseable when I find the time, because these ones are old, broken and nasty now. The mask is also removable!
I showed him off on my birthday on the now defunct Kirby's Rainbow Resort forums, and everyone there was very impressed by that. More recently I noticed how fishy his face looks... Like literally fishy. Now I really like actual fish.
Kirby and Rainberry - July-August 2020
I'm going to write about two plushies at the same time, because this is the best picture I have of Rainberry in good condition. I'll tell you about Kirby first though.
After having lots of leftover materials from Meta Knight, I decided to remake Kirby. Because my art style in 2020 was wacky and I actually tried sewing on the face instead of drawing it on, the face turned out super wonky. I almost want to remake Kirby again, but I'm too attached to this one! Kirby went through many different nicknames in their little pretend plushie puffball life. First I called them "Główny Posatć", a play on "Posatć" and the Polish term for main character. That made my family confuse my Kirby and Meta Knight plushies with each other, but I used it for a little bit anyway. Then I came up to my older sister with Kirby and said: "Sis, say something cool about them!". She replied with: "Różowy. Stolec.". I'm sad she doesn't remember that, because I started calling Kirby that name. It means pink turd, because my sister still finds poop funny. I called Kirby "Różowy Stolec" for quite a while, until I decided to shorten it to "Róziu". The best localization of that is probably "Pinkie". I still call them Róziu to this day, but I sprinkle in some "Rózia" too because Kirby is gender neutral.
Not too long after Kirby, I made my Kirbysona, Rainberry. As you may have noticed by the favicon, she's also this website's mascot! You'll learn more about her once I make pages for my OCs. She used to have the same color scheme as Meta Knight, but I ran out of purple so I decided to use the cyan used on MK's cheeks and the pink used on his mouth. I love this color pallete so much more! I've been using it for Rainberry ever since. I also decided to embroider her face by hand with yarn instead of sewing it on in hopes of making it look better that Kirby's. Her nickname is "Wariatka", meaning "crazy girl", because I like to make my plushies do "crazy" and wacky things like kiss each other on the butt or nuzzle everything in their sight. I take her everywhere I go since she fits nicely in my bag. Remember how I said this is the best picture of her in good condition? That's because she's in horrible condition now. Still in tact unlike White Kirby (RIP), just in very bad condition. She's very dirty, her embroidery is falling off, and she now lacks a piece of her hair. I feel like I have to remake her because of her condition and my better sewing skills. Also, she loves the Polish word for adventure, "przygoda". Every time someone I know well says it, she HAS to kiss them. She MUST.
Paint Roller - March 20th 2021
Warning! This entry contains mild swearing. Use some word filter extension thingy or don't read at all if you don't like swearing. I usually don't swear, but I have to use one bad word to explain this one. Blame my sister.
After playing Kirby's Adventure, I started really liking Paint Roller. That's why I decided to make a plushie of them. My sister gave him the nickname "Gównorolek", meaning Shit Roller, based on her stupid joke about how Paint Roller is stuck wearing special "shit rollers" that can only rollerskate on Meta Knight's poop... My mom gave him a much nicer nickname, "Dynduś". The best localization I can give is "Dangly". It comes from his dangly legs. I don't like the color scheme I picked for him that much, but I'm too attached to my plushies to remake anyone else besides Rainberry.
Marx - April 2021 to April 27th 2022
This stupid little communist extinct clown took me over a year because of procrastination and a house renovation. I actually bought new materials for him for the first time since making Meta Knight. This time they're 80% cotton instead of fully polyester, which is why he isn't shiny like my previous plushies. I also started embroidering with actual embroidery thread instead of yarn and got a lot better at embroidery in general. Because of those two things, I like to think he was the start of a new era for my plushies. By the way, his wings are removable too.
Prince Fluff - June 2022
This is the first plush that I have not made myself since Meta Knight. I really wanted Fluff to be made out of yarn but I don't know how to crochet, so I asked my mom to make him for me.
Gadułka - July 3rd 2022
This is another fan character of mine. I designed her specifically to make her into a plush that can be passed around like an olympic torch during conversations to prevent interrupting, because I absolutely hate being interrupted. She didn't end up serving that purpose, but I still love her. This puffball's name means "talkative person", which is ironic on purpose to contrast her quiet, collected nature. She's my dad's favorite plushie of mine, because it reminds him of the Bawowniatko meme that was popular in Ukraine around the time I made her. When I make pretend kissy noises for my plushies, I make Gadułka's much more quiet.
Galacta Knight - July-December 5th 2022
This is likely the best plush I've made so far. Her face is my magnum opus when it comes to hand embroidery. The only things I don't like about her are the wings and hands. I made them out of polymer clay to try to make them ball-jointed, but I made the ball joints wrong and the polymer clay crumbled very quick. What a waste! I will remake her hands and wings using better methods once I find the time. And remember Meta Knight's removable mask?
I took things even further with Galacta Knight - her whole armor is removable!
